ok the last time i ran the mav at the track i almost got her in the 14's i ran a 15.06 and this time i added a big speaker box with 2 12's and a extra batt in the trunk and now i got her to run a 14.9 with a open 9'' rear with 325's but i have on 'Q' for some reason when at the track my d-side tire burns rubber instead of the P-side ? my guess is because of the water.. does this mean that it has some kind of worn out posi ?? because when i had it out i didnt notice anything that looked like it would be posi....9'' rear 325 chunk from pick n pull out of a late 70's early 80's econoline van
Here's the best decripsion of a open diff I've ever seen.... I took my car to the track yesterday too, it's hella fun! How much faster do you think it would be without the speaker box in it? Those things are heavy.
the reason cars usually spin the passenger side tire is that the twisting action of the drive shaft lifts up on the passenger side and pushes down on the drivers side. so to get the opposite to happen there has to be a greater force than the drive shaft effecting the difference in traction on the tires. my first guess is that the drivers side spring and shock in the rear are softer than the passenger side. the springs are what fights the twisting action and with the passenger side being stiffer it can fight the twist. another possibility is that the track could have been stickier on the passenger side than the drivers side. a third possibility is that the passenger housing tube is bent putting the passenger side axle in a bind that allows the drivers side to rotate easier.
yah i ran faster with the box lol i just got a re-pop 429 mustang boss hood scoop for it $50 on craigs list and the guy had a very nice fastback mustang in the driveway
