The other day was going to hook up the choke on my carb.Since I got the car this wire has been tucked in under the brake cylinder so I decided to follow it and see what it was hooked up to..I checked with a test light to see if it had any current going trough it with the key on and car on and I got nothing. So I cut the tape and traced the wire and it ended being plugged in with another connector and that wire lead to the harness on my firewall.I wanted to cut the wire but I dont know if its meant to be hooked up to something.Does anyone know what that wire might be for?

    white w/blk

white with black stripe wire is for the electric choke. it has a fusible link in the end where it connects to the white with black stripe wire that runs between the alternator and the alternator regulator. the oil pressure switch wire is white with red stripe.

I am 90% sure that is the wire that activates the clutch for an A/C system. Mine is in the same spot, with the same connector, and taped up, out of the way ... waiting for "some day" that the car has air again.

The wire for the compressor comes thru the firewall with the vacuum lines for the A/C.

Is that wire yellow with a black stripe or white with a black stripe? Scrape lightly on it to remove the outside oxidation and post back. I'm going with " CaptainComet's " post that it's for the compressor clutch. I'll check mine in the morning and post back. Turn your key on, fan on, and AC on, and see if the wire has power then! :)

i have one that looks just like that on my engine and it goes to the carb for electric choke, my a/c wire looks way differnet than that it has a female end that plugs into the compressor...
