I wanted to showcase the awards my ’70 Grabber received over the last year or so. I attended 16 shows and won 14 awards including 3 Best of Shows! It was a fantastic year and for the most part I really enjoyed every show I attended. I met some great car owners including a few guys from here on the board. I love showing the car off to the crowds. So many nice comments and stories about Mavericks that they or a family member had. For those of you that do not know my car, it is a very minimal optioned 1970 Grabber. 200-6 and 3 speed on the column plus an AM radio and the Grabber package – that is all. It was restored to showroom condition and every effort was made to use the original parts or NOS if available. Some of the “wow factors” I hear all the time from the crowds is just how amazing it is to see a car this stock and they love the 6 cylinder and "3 on the tree" shifter. It is truly like a time capsule back to the summer of 1970. So this year is officially over now. There will be a couple of trips around the neighborhood just to keep everything lubed. But soon the snow will fly and once they put salt down on the roads the car will sit until the heavy spring rains wash the salt away for good. I'm looking forward to next summer already! List of shows I have attended since the car was completed: 2011 MCCI National Round-up, Dearborn MI – 1st Place – Concourse Judged 2012 Markesan – Best of Class – Participant Vote Waupun – show only Wautoma – 1st Place – Concourse Judged Portage – Best of Class – Judged Sheboygan Falls – Ducktona 500 – 1st Place – Participant Vote + Judged Fox Lake – skunked – Judged Oakfield – skunked – Participant Vote Neshkoro – 1st Place – Judged Berlin – Best of Class – Participant Vote Montello – Best of Show – Concourse Judged Pardeeville – Best of Class – Concourse Judged Lake Arrowhead – Best of Class – Concourse Judged Horicon – Best of Class and Best of Show – Participant Vote / Sponsor Choice Green Lake – show only Oxford - Best of Class and Best of Show Sedan – Judged
I am one who has seen the car in person "MCCI 2011", and will attest that it is definetly a classs act. I think it deserves all the wins you have accumulated... Congratlations.
That is awesome. I love all the trophies...all for a MAVERICK!! Your MCCI Roundup Nationals trophy looks a little different than what I remember.
Thanks you for the comments - it was a great summer to represent the Maverick world at these shows. And some of the shows were quite large. Two of them had over 700 cars and a couple more were in the 400-500 range. Yes, good eye Craig. Did you know on the MCCI award plaque, no where does it actually say Maverick Comet Club International? So, I had the MCCI plaque put on a display board that has my name, car description, what "MCCI" is and the date for the national show. Now when people see it they know what it is, who it is from and who received it.
Sir, that is a beautiful car. I plan on moving to Michigan in the near future, please keep your maverick in Wisconsin. Congratulations on the trophy's
It says what the MCCI is on there: in the website address. It also says it in the MCCI logo on there. It is small on the plaque, but looks bigger on the T-Shirts. Same with the dates on there. I do like what you have done with the plaque. Can I see a picture of it?
Here you go Craig, I looked again (thought maybe your eyes were better than mine ... ) No mention of a website - no full name, only the initials MCCI What it says, 18th Annual Roundup Nationals - MCCI - July 20th-24th, 2011 - Back To The Birthplace - Dearborn, Michigan Anyway, I generaly haul this one around to the shows with me, and nobody knew what it was. That is why I mounted it to the display board - I think it looks much better and shows the award off better.
Oh....that's right. They went with the other MCCI logo on that design. Thanks for posting the picture. I like how you did that.
