ok i took out my motor yesterday and here is my code for it-

    D4DE-6150-AA
for my translation skills it says it was made in 1974 in a ford falcon...can somebody help me out here? also they guy SAID it was out of a 1966 ford mustang...this might not even be a 289 because the production was stopped in 1968 if i am correct. could the D also stand for a maverick maybe??

    and my transmission,

    C6AP-7D027-C

and now this gets interesting because this was made in 1966... if i am correct. my hypothesis is that they guy i bought it from was confused and ment to say the tranny was from a 66 mustang and the engine is actually the original 302???

Yes "D" was also used for Maverick(Falcon prod ended in '70 so it'd be impossible to be from a Falcon)... With that casting it's no doubt a 302, last 289s were built in C8xxxx blocks... Still engine components often have a different carlines(most often fullsize) as part of the number...
