this is the cam I just installed...just got the motor and tranny back in the car and still trying to get it ready to turn over. Comp Cams tells you how they recomend breaking in the new cam when you buy it. I just cant wait to hear it!!:drive:

of all the cams listed so far.. the smaller one is the best choice for what you're after here since it keeps the power band fatter on the low end.

BUT.. IMHO, the comp XE cam listed above is the better of all the ones shown so far if you back off to a smaller grind 1 step below it.

Also consider that the best bang for the buck you can do to that motor is to lose the 1 barrel carb in place of a larger 2 barrel setup. That alone is the largest restriction(well.. aside from the exhaust).. and no camshaft will ever give you optimum gains.. in power or mileage.. until you get rid of that major bottleneck. Sure it will make more power with a better cam running off that 1 bore.. but not nearly what it would with more airflow from a larger carb. You could also swap to a larger 1bbl carb and mod it.. but all that work will not even come close to what a decent 2bbl swap will give you. :)
