Whenever it rains my maverick always seems to get drenched with water on both the driver and passenger side floorboards above the carpet. I know it's not coming from a leak in the weatherstripping. How is all this water coming up from under the car into my car?

Your cowls are probably rusted out. Pour a gallon of water down your cowl vents in front of your windshield and see if the water comes inside.

If you took your front fenders off you would see 2 drain holes (1 on either side) on your cowl. These get blocked with pine needles and leaves and let the water lay in your cowls instead of draining out rotting out the cowl assembly letting the water run into the interior of the car. Ford in it's infinite wisdom decided that no primer or paint was needed for any type of coating to protect it from rotting out :hmmm:

I have the perfect solution, don't drive it in the rain or wash it! Works for me! Lol...

I live in Western Washington, no car cover because it gets to windy here and the car cover would be ruined in a month (gone through two already). No room in my parents garage, so it has to sit outside. It's inevitable, it will get wet 12 months 320 days of the year! haha.

But, my wife and I just bought a house with a shop on the property, needless to say, you can guess what is going to be parked in that shop space!

Yep I just picked up a magnetic cowl cover off ebay. Hoping to be disciplined about using it. Then I have to figure out how I'm gonna get it fixed since the Comet is my daily driver again.

water also enters the weep holes at the base of the windshield...around the wiper stems and the holes where the hood to cowl seal mounts...:yup:
