Pulled my T5 noticed on the end cap where the input shaft passes through a couple spots that look like cracks but I think they are rough spots in the casting that have some raised portions. just wanted another opinion while I had it out.
Also need to replace the trans mount the rubber is separating badly, I did not build the car and do not know what mount this might be from it anyone recognize it, appears different than the Fox body one I used in my Falcon

i dont know about those cracks. they look like they could be cracks or just some casting flash.

the trans mount looks like a standard maverick c4 mount.

Those cracks are called shrink... they are caused by the material cooling at different rates during the casting process. This is either due to the mix of molten aluminum not being mixed up completely causing the material to cool at different rates in the casting, or caused by contamination in the casting or material itself.

Chances are someone grabbed a casting die with their hands and did not clean it off between molded parts. The oil from ones hands will even cause imperfections in castings.

As long as the shrink is shallow then there shouldnt be any concerns on if the part will hold up. Usually when something like that is seen after casting the parts are NDT inspected and then if they are within the acceptable limits then they are allowed to go into production components...(whats scary is large aircraft(boeing 737 airbus 380 ect ect) flight control manifolds look like that but they pass NDT inspection are acceptable for usage like that)

I don't think I've seen a T5 front bearing retainer that didn't have that casting shrink...

You can buy an all steel replacement for $35 if there's a concern...
