Hey everyone. Just purchased a 72 Comet GT. First one. Just thought you guys can give me some advice on 15 inch wheel sizes for the rear. Not much backspace. Put a 4.5 backspace torque thrust and it looks tight. Thinking 3.5 backspace on a 8 inch wide wheel. Gonna run a 2555015 BFG drag radial, thoughts?? Also, not much room for headers between shock towers? Any advice on brands would be great!

    Thanks, Michael

Welcome to the madness!!!! Are you running a stock deck height 302??? If so there are a couple choices for headers.

I run headman headers. I had to jack the car way up in the air then twist and shove them in from the bottom

Most 15x8 wheels are a 4.5" backspace. You may find some that are 4.0" or 4.25", but I have never heard of a 15x8 with a 3.5" backspace.

You're gonna need wheel spacers or a wider rear-end to run a 4.5" backspace.

    a 255/50-15 (if it exists) is gonna be pretty short. I'd suggest a 265/50-15, or a 245/60-15.

:Welcome: I run a 15X8 with 4.5" back space, I used a quarter inch spacer and put on a 255/60/15 cooper cobra tire... I have about 3/8" of clearance between the tire and spring....

Wheel set up, and Header thankyou's

    Hey everyone,

Worked on the car last night. BFG are making drag radials 275/50/15. They are 26.2 tall. Mounted on Torque thrust with 4.5 backspace( had them for my 66 Fairlane). The right rear needed a 5/16 spacer. The left needed a 3/8 as someone posted. Neat combination as it looks like I mini tubbed it. It looks like I'm going with Headman as a couple of ya said thats the ticket.

    Thanks for all the help!
