    Hello!

I have just installed a new vintage looking but modern radio in my Comet.
It works great but since then there is a short frying my intrumental panel light fuse.
From my owner's manual, it says that fuse also use to take care of the radio light??? But there was only 2 cables going out of my radio (not counting the ones going to the speaker) so I don't get how it could be on 2 different fuses and how plugging a new radio to the former + and - would fry my light panel fuse?

Please help, I suck at electrical :D

I would guess you hooked up the ground for the radio to the factory dash lighting. The radio ground needs to be attached to METAL on the car. The metal dash will be fine.

The lighting circuit is separate, has nothing to do with the radio wiring.

The lighting circuit is part of the factory plug that has the power to the factory radio. That is why some people assume it is a negative gound wire. I have seen it numerous times. Seems everybody who brings me a Maverick to work on has this problem.

Yup, and that's why it has it's own fuse. :Handshake
