    I've got a '76 mav I6, 200, 4-door...

Here' the problem that I'm having... I'm having a constant strong vibration on acceleration, and some vibration on "coasting" and idle...

I've had the carb cleaned and idle-adjusted...
New tires have been put on... the brakes are ok, and the alignment has been done...
The trans was just recently rebuilt...
No oil burning, no antifreeze loss...

I'm still having trouble with this vibration... any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help...

If it didn't do it before I would say something to do with tranny when you got it rebuilt. I don't know if i'm right or not but someone told me before you got to have the flexplate or something. They may have replaced it with wrong one? I believe it was Elliot that told me about it not sure tho.

If it didn't do it before trany overhaul, than it is probably in the flex plate that connects the engine to the tranny, it has to be from the same type engine as it came off from. they may have it wrong
also check you engine and tranny mounts, hold the brake and slightly give it gas, if you have bad mounts engine/tranny will move a bit more than normal.

also a rear differential will give you a bad vibration.
Mine is doing it now,and I need to start looking for a new rear end, (77 Maverick)(y)

    I'll check the mounts tomorrow...

The car has a heavy vibration in park and the in the gears... it only quiets-down to nearly no vibration when it is in neutral. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance...

Did you remove and install and rebuild the transmission yourself? If a shop did the work take it back to them and complain about the vibration.

Ya tell them it wasn't doing it before and even if its not them they may be able to tell you what the problem is.
