Painted Intake

    i was wondering if anybody ever painted there aftermarket intake, such as edelbrock and other intakes, and also would u have to prep it with anything before u paint it...

    I taped mine up, and bead blasted it, then painted it. Aluminum Weiand dual plane.

    Edelbrock Performer Intake. I had the Edelbrock name on the runner milled off and had the area shot-peened to make it look factory.

    Acetone wipe down to remove any oils or clear lacquer and then sprayed with Ford Blue Duplicolor Engine Enamel - so far so good!

    not good but will clean the pores of the cast before you paint

    It was suggested to me to use cast mag wheel cleaner. I did, then sprayed mine with aluminum paint. Turned out great.

    Yep, painted mine too. Used a Dupont aluminum prep then painted it with Ford blue engine paint. It has held up well and is easy to clean if it gets any gas or oil on it. I have also painted others an aluminum color then cleared them as the raw aluminum loses its bright color over time as it gets dirty. Plus, it gives your motor a sleeper look (y) I have pics of my painted intake within my profile.
