Nice color on the block.......................I have your twin, almost. I am assuming the block is after market..........or did you add the splayed center mains?
thanks yours looks bad @%%% i ground all the castings almost all the way off and smothed it out no its a cast block 50$ bucks, magna fluxed shot peened it was all good did alot of prep on it, i had it splayed at my machine shop what range hp yo think i can get around. .
Go to the top right of the page and click on where it says "quick links". Then click where it says "edit signature" and you are good to go.
It's always hard to figure HP numbers................I was hoping for around 700hp on mine................only got 642hp on the dyno. I'm just guessing, but maybe 500+...............are you going to put on a dyno?
i hear that yeah ill dyno it eventually just gettin the short block done so it will be a bit before i get the long block done, i think it will be a screamer in a mav either way,
Looks like you figured it out! :Handshake Interestingly, I only see it on your 3rd page, not the first two. Usually, once a change is made, you can see it on all your posts...
Personally.. I think the compression, cam, and intake choice are a bit on the small side to achieve "wicked". Sounds more like a "hot" street motor to me and if it were in the sub 400 inch range.. that combo would be better/more topend. Also consider that those heads will EASILY flow beyond .600 lift.. so shorting it there will inevitably just be shorting yourself in the long run. I'd be thinking closer to .675'ish lift, a bit more compression, and a Super Victor with 420 inches breathing through those particular heads. OR.. at the very least.. you'd have to open up the jr to match the larger ports on those heads since they taper down pretty substantially by the time they touch the head. But.. on the other hand.. that combo would probably be more long lived, easier on parts, and have a funner torque curve for the street.
Ya wanna be easy on it a lil but want a hot street motor, I was thinkin of super victor, Is there less port matching to do, kida goin for longevity and just an all around good motor thanks
yeah.. that was the point I was trying to get across. The Super has larger ports with less taper all the way from plenum to head flange and would likely need not be matched.. or require very little effort to match up. Whereas the Vic JR would be tapered from larger to smaller as it reaches the head so would have a larger mismatch with larger heads like those. The spec's are online at Edelebrock(for sure) and AFR(maybe need to call them?) if you wanted to compare them for out of the box matching. Not a huge deal though and gasket matching will likely only net you around 6-8 horse with milder lift/duration cams. You'd need to have larger lift/duration.. and the aforementioned displacement.. to really get you money's worth from a gasket matched JR.. or Super Vic. But if you rpm'd that motor?(6,500+).. it'll likely be more like 20 horse differences between the two. In the end it may not matter for what you appear to be after here and that lil' Vic will seem like a dual plane with that much motor.
