Wow that would have been nice, but at 10 years old I couldn't get financing, just looking at some of those prices on the other cars.....hindsight is indeed 20/20!

Yeah I've ordered a dozen(all with 428CJ with shaker hood) and they threw in the used '64 Galaxie with three on the tree for free(I had one with same 'bout 100 years ago)...

I remember those ads! That is about the lowest figure I remember for the Maverick. There were some lower, but they were bare bones cars. 3spd column shift, 170 engine, no radio, rubber floor. :)

Prices look great but remember...The average take home pay in 69 was between 48 and 72 dollars a week...My dad was making 65.00 a week at the ford stamping plant here...Good $$ back then. Those ads are pretty cool to see now...That country squire would be a 22K car now as a bare bones ride...

I remember when I bought my first new car. My black 71 Comet GT. The payments were $91.00 per month for 36 months. I didn't sleep that night wondering how I was going to find the money to make the payments.

That sounds a little low to me... As a kid out of HS I started in Jan '69 at $95 a week and that gave me something like $75-$80 after deductions... Within approx a year I was making $121 a wk(I remember that as my future F-I-L asked me how much I made the first time we met)...

MY job??? Sears Service Dept, field tech, TV repair...

I remember those ads, too. At the time a new VW Beetle cost the same and I had a hard time deciding between the two. Wages depended on the cost of living of the area you lived in. I had just started a 2nd shift job and with night differential was making $2.10 hour while still a senior in high school. Everyone thought it was rediculous that a kid my age was making that kind of money.
