http://mr-gasket.com/air-and-fuel-systems/fuel-pumps/95-gph-high-perf-fuel-pump.html are these just as good as the holley pumps or are they a chinese made knock off?
Can't answer that, but I've got one of their 12S pumps feeding my 331's 3x2 setup. Been there now for about 6 years. Never missed a beat.
I can't answer that either...but it says "Not compatible with alcohol or methanol fuels". That being said...isn't ethanol and alcohol in the same category as far as corrosion goes? I notice the 12S is compatible with "All fuels and additives"
If I'm not mistaken, Methanol is more corrosive than Ethanol. I'll have to look it up in my hasmat manual. They're both alcohols, but not the same.
Midgrade could have either more premium mixed into it to boost the octane, or more ethanol. Both are used to raise the octane of the base fuel. Our conventional gas is a mix of 84 and 91 to make it 87. The 87 octane ethanol mix uses ethanol to raise the 84 to 87. I've been mixing 93 octane ethanol mix with conventional 91 in my 331 for two years now and it hasn't had any negative effects to either the pump or carbs, and it sits for weeks at a time allowing the fuel to evaporate in the carbs.
thanx for the info, how do you have the 12s mounted? is it above or below the fuel level of the tank? i have a bosche in line fuel pump (cant find any info on this pump) but i dont know if i can mount it above the fuel level, looking for sumthing that can be mounted obove the level of the fuel
It's mounted on the inside of the frame rail, forward of the rearend. It's drawing from the stock fuel line, I simply cut the original fuel line and spliced in the pump using rubber fuel hose. I spliced in a std 3/8" fuel filter between the pump and tank line to keep any trash out of the pump. The only time the 12S fails to feed the carbs is when that filter gets clogged. That's when I know it's time to change the filter.
