You can buy a new 76-77 tank complete with new sending unit less than $130. The only mod is longer carriage bolts to reach the straps.

where did you get that tank from?
what about the tanks from auto krafters? kindof pricey for everything brand new but has anyone tried them?

After reading the description on the AK tank...it sounds like the same tank from Rock Auto. Whereas AK wants to sell you new straps instead of longer bolts. The vapor valve on top of the tank is still available from your local Ford parts department.

I went through the cleaning/resealing an old fuel tank years ago only to have it leak again a year or two later. My opinion it was a waste of money to spend $85 for a band aid when I could add another $45 and have a new tank and new sending unit.

Yea, I was thinking the same. I did do the relign, didn't cost me as much as you spent, but I do wonder WHEN it will leak.
So your saying that the tank releif valve fits these 76 tanks? Are all year valves the same?

According to AK the '71-'77 valve is the same...the '76-'77 grommet is different. I'm not that up to speed on all the different systems used on Mavericks, I had angle iron hanging on onto a Mustang tank's flange on my Mav when I got it . See http://1bad6t.com/Maverick/maverick_3.html

Maybe someone else will chime in with more detail.

You can expect leaks when your fuel filter starts getting clogged every time you turn around.

I just got a 76 tank for my 71, but I couldn't find one that came with a sending unit and can't find an OEM one...anyone know where I can find all the objects to fill these holes in this tank?? This is my first time messing with this old of a tank and I never had my original tank to work off of. The parts stores around here don't seem to know my tank from a banana, so any help would be greatly appreciated
