First off, where can I find a new fuel tank? Mine is rusted on the inside. Second, I don't think my fuel pump is working. What is a good way to test this. The fuel filter is dry as a bone even after turning the engine over for a minute. This is a 1970 6 cylinder. Thanks
Welcome to the site. As for the 70 tank you cant get them new. You can post over in the wanted section. I had mine redone at RENU shop ( http://www.gastankrenu.com/). It was a couple hundred. You can see the before and after here http://smegnl.medina.oh.us/index.php/maverick/57-tank-leak
Thanks for the reply. I see they have one in LA. I would have to ship it because I don't feel like dealing witht he traffic. I was really hoping to get this car on the road by this weekend
So i placed the hose from the outlet of the fuel pump in a cup of water and it was making bubbles. the hose from the fender to the fuel pump witht he filter is not clogged. Why is the gas not making it from the tank to the fuel pump?
one of the rubber hoses may have a hole in it or the steel line may have rusted and have holes in it. kirks radiator on magnolia in el cajon can repair and clean gas tanks.
Fuel pumps go bad if they are not being used over an extended amount of time...the diaphragm dries out.
I drained most of the fuel from pulling the hose off the sending unit. It is not clogged. However it needs to be cleaned or replaced.
I am. He said it would take a couple days. Hopefully be on the road by next weekend. Still have no clue how the transmission is.
