I had the Shelby style bars on both my Maverick and my Falcon bound up on both cars worked okay for wheel hop but definitely bound up the rear at times. Maverick now has slapper bars (homemade) work great although a little noisy at times. Was planning a switch to Cal traks on both cars in near future.
Seems everybody ends up switching to cal tracs or us planning to. The way I look at it is why waste time and money on anything else if you already know what works best. How much are you really saving anyway?
They are not all that expensive. I got mine for $300, true Calvert brand, and you really cannot beat the look, fit, and quality of them.
Hmm. I spent all my money on the transmission, now the springs are next on my list! Then eventually caltrac or those traction masters.
So which setup is best for cornering? If I decide to auto cross later down the road, slapper bars vs caltrac vs Shelby style "traction masters". I was thinking the traction masters and save the rest of the difference on a good panhard bar?
The solid aluminum bushing that cal tracs puts in the front spring eye significantly reduces the side deflection in the spring. This create better turning response.
I put the Traction Master style in my car about 5,6,7, years ago, and I have been happy with them. Once in a great while I'll get wheel hop when my tires "lose adhesion" on the street, but during spirited driving in a controlled environment, the car does seem more solid under braking, and corner exit.
