Do you keep a fire extinguisher in the car? If so how is it mounted? Pics would be great.

Yup mounted to the floor between the bucket seats to hide a hole that was in an otherwise mint black carpet.

Always keep one in the trunk. Way back before I restored my Sprint it got hit in the rear quarter turning at an intersection. Not exactly sure how, but the rubber seal in the trunk that seals the gas filler tube to the trunk floor, caught fire. I ended beating it out with my hands because I had nothing else. Got it out but also got some nasty burns on my hands. (was worth it). Anyway, lesson earned.

Yep I do but it's not currently mounted, just rolling around the rear floor :16suspect not keeping it for me or mine, just might need it for someone else in a bad situation.

I keep one in my trunk just in case I need it more for circumstances around me that might call for it than actually putting out my own car :)

keep one wedged right between the tunnel and passenger bucket seat! couldn't stand the thought of just standing there watching my mav burning while waiting for the fire department. hopefully it never happens, but rather be safe than sorry!

After my 65 Mustang caught on fire, I always have one. Not mounted. Just behind the seat.

When I was doing car stereo spl competitions I had a extinguisher in my vehicle at all times. Until the F-ing thing went off when I slammed on the brakes and literally crop dusted the whole freaking inside of the cabin.

    rolling around = bad news.

My Brother used to work for a fire extinguisher company and I got a couple of nice chrome extinguishers, otherwise I probably wouldn't have any. The one in my Grabber is in the trunk in a small milk crate, along with a flashlight, qt of oil, brake fluid, trans. fluid, water/coolant and a few other items.

I think this is an excellent topic. I have thought for a long time that I should be carrying an extinguisher in both of the old cars, maybe just under the front seat ? I definately do not want to permanently mount one anywhere.

For those of you who have one in the trunk, good for you for at least doing something (more than me). I have considered that, but can picture myself wasting precious time looking for, or fumbling with keys.

I am on the judging committe for the Fairlane Club of America, and a couple years ago we decided to follow the AAC and require a fire extinguisher at the front tire of all cars on the show field. That rule went from a suggestion to a requirement this year. When the idea was initially brought up, I thought it was overkill and really did not see a need for it. Like many others, I thought the likelyhood of MY car catching fire was so remote, I didn't need to worry. But what about the OTHER cars? What about the car next to yours? How did that guy wire that spagetti....what kind of fuel system did they add......is that 40 year old fuel hose original?

Think about a congested cruise-in somewhere and then picture one of those "rat rods" catching fire next to you as people scarnble around looking for something to put it out. Think about that guy parked next to you and the car you have worked for years to perfect.
