Ok like some crazed, dumb and manic mechanic I went and put a want ad for Mavericks and Comets on CL, got a response yesterday on it, person says their friend has two Mavericks for sale, a 1970 2 door and a 1971 4 door, one is complete and one is a parts car (the '71 4 door) I have phone numbers and names for both the responder and their friend that owns the cars, my problem is, if I get two more cars I might just as well shoot myself and save the wife the trouble, I already have three Mavericks here and even though two of them are hers, she won't allow any more at this time, my dilemma is I can't just not find out about these cars, I am driven (by forces unknown to me) to call and see what kind of deal I can get or at least go and look at them, I thought about being sneaky about it all :16suspect but she saw the ad yesterday on CL and saw the response in my e-mail from the ad and is watching me like a hawk, I can't help it I absolutely must call and find out about them, and I will, she will know about it also because I will do it in front of her lol, but I need some help on it, someone on here is looking for a Maverick right? so I am checking on them for that person the only other problem I am going to have is if it's a hell of a deal on them, I gotta pull the trigger, and then she will pull the trigger so I gotta figure that one out also, maybe if I tell her they are in better condition than her car and I need them to get her Maverick done hmmmm............. What would you do? Where is Matt when you need him (gmatthew76)
DO IT!!!! ...and then beg for forgiveness. Tell her they're NOT yours and that you're holding them for a friend! I pulled a similar stunt with my parents when I was living at home. I spent almost three paychecks on a 70 and a parts 77. You should have seen the look on Mom's face when she got home to a driveway full of three Mavericks!
I feel your pain. I found one on craigslist and even showed it to the wife. She immediately said NO. I keep showing it to her and saying this one is done and we'll be able to drive it now as opposed to waiting for the completion of the one we have now. Still no. I've been debating on getting some info on loans just to present a completed statement to the wife saying we can afford it... I think it would still be NO.
