yesterday i bought a trailer from a guy and along the way to get it, i saw a maverick sitting in a field well i had a guy with me that was showing me where the guy stayed, so when we got to the guy house i asked him who car it was and he said its his father... to keep a long story short i asked his father and he said 300.00 all i had was the trailer money, so i said i will back in the morning, he said ok... got there this morning car gone.. he said the guy that was with me came back that night and bought it, he said that the guy said i told him to come out there and get it.... that was real underhanded by him guess i didnt need it
That sucks! I wonder what was so special about the car that he felt like he needed to buy it out from under you? If it was sitting in a field, the chances are it was NFG anyway. People like that won't have it for very long anyway. It [or parts thereof] will show up sooner or later on CL or something. I guess it wasn't meant to be.
It had a little rust on it, seat were pretty good from what I could see couldnt open doors cause he couldnt find the keys 250 engine don't know what year had a skinny bumpers
Tis ok, when he joins this forum looking for advice and or parts, let us know.....you/we do have an ignore button that will fit him very well!
I'm not a lawyer or a cop but... If you really wanted to you could probably have the guy arrested at the least, and get the car maybe too. With testimony from the original owner and his cooperation anyway. I mean its several things, 1) Identity theft - he represented himself as your representative which constitutes identity theft. 2) A confidence scam - he was with you earlier so knew he could steal your identity to steal the car 3) fraudulent purchase - he committed fraud to illegally purchase the vehicle in your name 4) theft of property - he stole your car that he purchased in your name Now, some of that is tenuous which is why you would need the original owner to cooperate. But, I'm pretty sure I am correct here that you could really screw that guy over. I want to point out I am basing this off of a conversation I once overheard about a similar thing with an illegal gun purchase between a lawyer I know and a ADA. It was a very very similar situation, and the difference between the lawyer's client spending life in jail and not spending life in jail, so he was more fully vested than you are in getting the con man charged with the crimes.
what happen to the...first come first served...with the money...if the Guy said he would hold it for you then he is the one that sold the car out from under you...if he didn't make the bill of sale out in your name, it's on him... sounds like the guy selling the car just took the first money that came his way for the car... you have nothing in writing and the only witness was the guy that bought the car...I don't think a lawyer can help...
no i bought a trailer from his son the father is the one had the car... he called me an apologized he said that since the guy was with me he thought i told him to come get the car cause thats what he told him, i was excited about it too i woke up with it on my mind... u win some and lose some, for 300 i wont find another one in that good of a shape for that price but u never know
