Ok you guys I need your help again. I need to remove my door window and I see 2 plastic connectors that hold the window to the track. I know I need to remove these to slide the window out. They look like they're pressed in there or they snap together through the holes in the glass. I will probably have to gently drill them out. My question is: is there anyplace that sells the inserts to go back in there? Or what would work? I need something to attach the window back to the track/channel. Thanks
They are not easy to find. You need to pop the middle all the way through, I have someone hold the glass, and I use a small center punch, and tap it out.
They are reproduced now. Fairly cheap in price too http://www.ebay.com/itm/70-71-72-73...Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c23f3c3a0&vxp=mtr or the company website, although they are not shown there http://restorationpartssource.com/store/ Hope this helps!
I used two strips of duct tape over the top of the door frame to hold the glass. It will help if you have instructions for removing the glass. You need to unfasten the glass channels to tip the glass and get it out.
I'm replacing the window channel anyway so I'll be removing the channel first from bottom of the window opening to the top of the door. I just ordered the retainers on Ebay. Pretty cheap. Thanks guys. Good advice.
Phillips screwdriver in the middle and slight tapping to get the pin out. Just tap it enough to get it to move to the back. Then reach around with your hand and catch the pin as you push it the rest of the way out with the screwdriver. Then take a flat screwdriver and pry the rest of the retainer out.
