I am looking to purchase an IDIDIT steering column and was wondering if you have installed one in your maverick if you could post up the measurements that ordered. I was also hoping that I might be able to get a photo of how far your column sticks out past the fire wall.

I appreciate your help and feedback.

    Thanks,
    Tom

can you order one for your setup? I would think they would have them ready for
    rack-N-pinion front ends...

You can order one that would be set up for the RRS rack and pinion set up. The major thing I need is the shortest length I can install so there is as much clearance from the firewall to the rack.

I thought the only ones that adjusted in length were the telescoping columns. The only other adjustments on the up and down would be the tilt or the way you mounted it.

I think he is referring to where you mount it?

I just want to make sure that with whatever steering wheel adapter I may use for the type steering wheel. I want to be sure that it is not to far away from the dash and it is in the middle of your chest.

Have the seat in the car and bolted down. I had my steering wheel and everything assembled, then sat in the seat, put the column where I wanted it and made my measurements from that.

Otherwise its all guessing. And that is no good.

Shawn Simpson, has been in talks with them in the past, and if they had a stock Maverick column, they could measure it up, and see how it compares. I had 2 coupons, to buy steering columns at cost, from them, but I didn't like the fact they used a GM style key.

Is that all it will take? I have a stock column I was going to sell. But I could be talked into a donation to help the cause. Too late for me, but it would help future builders and some guys wanting to convert.

I talked to him, and he said they measured his car a couple of years ago, maybe give them a call and see what they say? I've talked to them in the past at a few different shows, but they really had no info.

Go to Flaming Rivers site they have a great diagram on how to measure for column length. I believe the shortest they have is 28" which I used in my car. I do have a hook up with them if you decide you want one.
