you'll either have to underfill and sneak up on it?(I usually just add till the end of the dipstick registers.. and go from there).. or use the spec's from that particular pan to see how much larger it is over stock and add that amount to the typical stock fill(maybe 5-6 quarts?.. but can vary between years. IIRC, many aftermarket pans are in the +2 quart range.

It also depends on whether or not the converter has oil left in it too(which it obviously would if it was previously run). IF.. it's a 2+ quart deep sump pan and the converter is already oiled?.. I'd guess you'd be around 7-9 quarts to reach full hot.

Just keep in mind that the more capacity that the system has.. the greater the expansion of the fluids when hot.. so be sure to not overfill it cold. Also be sure to prefill the converter if it's new and install it on the trans first.. NOT the engine.

Have you already used kevlar bands before and do you like them over other higher firction/lower heat range bands?(such as the Alto reds). Just curious and not trying to cause any concerns.

I have kevlar bands and clutches in my Comet and I use Mercon IV and have for the last 4 years. That is what the transmission builder said to use and it has worked perfectly so I guess it is ok.
