Heyy guys have a question i cant seem to answer with google searches. Is there a way to install a 4 point racing harness without having to install a cage. Also how would you install a harness bar without the cage. I dont like the stock 3 point system as it makes it hard to access the bacseat and if i could install a harness bar would i run into the same problem accessing the bacseat..... plan on buying adjustable racing seats not sure wht brand and am against the stock belts any help would be appreciated side questiin how the hLL do you take the seatbelts out if the car need to remove remaining carpet

you can install a harness with out a roll bar. a real racing harness is a 5 point or 6 point. a 4 point harness will let you slide out from the bottom in the event of a crash. their are company's that sell 4 point harnesses but they are not legal for use in any sanctioned racing.

the shoulder straps can be made extra long and mounted to the floor pan where the back seat cushions meet together. this makes the back seat useless.

you dont need to remove the carpet to remove the stock seat belts. they are held in by torx head bolts that have plastic covers over them. just remove the covers and you will access to the bolts. these are good points to attach the lap belts to.

According to my sister who has gotten 3 warnings and 2 tickets now in her Jeep, those aftermarket 4 point systems may not be legal for a street vehicle in all states. Hers were added to the car by the dealer she bought it from, so she was able to get both tickets dropped. My dad wasn't so lucky he had to pay his ticket for not wearing a proper safety belt as a passenger...

I've got stock belts in mine, with bucket seats. I haven't had any issues with using my back seats.

The 71 I had with the bench seats, I had no issue using the seats. And judging from what I cleaned out of the back seats the PO had no problems rolling with his homies in the back.

    LOL... Ne = any

I would not use 4, 5, 6 point belts for daily use. Stay with 3 pnt. Can you imagine having to roll the window down, adjust stereo, anc or many other tasks when propperly belted into any of these systems?

I'll keep my 3pt for daily use and have a 5pt for use when racing only. I remove the back seat when racing. I'll reinforce the package shelf and have a mount point installed there for the shoulder harness to attach to. Or maybe even a removable harness bar that attaches to reinforced points on the B-Pilars.

The msg I should be protraying more so than how to make it work when racing is "use these ONLY when racing."

I have 5 points in mine and yeah, they're a pain in the ass everytime you get into the car to go somewhere, having experienced a coupla racing accidents where for the most part everyone knows what they're doing and going in the same direction and knowing that most street drivers are more pre-occupied with eating, drinking, texting, applying make-up, etc., it's a small inconvienence

    Seat Belts

As for drag racing : You can run a relatively low ET with stock seat belts. If you install a harness then it must be according to the rules. These are date coded and must be replaced periodically. So it could happen that a person could race with stock belts, but can't race because their harness is out-dated. Go figure.
