steering column part ? where does it go?

    It's hard to tell the size. How big or little is it? Is it metal or plastic?

    its plastic, about 5/8 long and has 2 clip ears on the one side

    How much of your steering column is taken apart? I recall seeing a piece like that in the guts between the steering wheel and the column, part of the flasher system.

    But I'm just grasping at straws.

    Maybe some pics of different views? kinda looks like there are some loops and holes but I can't tell for sure.

    Checked out my shop manual and don't see anything like this. Maybe a few different views would help.

    If I had to guess, there are 3 different bushings to support the shift tube, inside the column. They are made from, what looks like, the same material as your picture. If so, its probably a piece of one of those bushings.
