With the help from previous threads I was able to rebuild my heater box with little difficulty. The issue I have is this. The car was an original ac car but now has a non ac heater box (changed by prev owner (s)).

Is the defroster vent that mounts to the underside of the dash different between ac and non ac? Or is the duct work that is held onto the top of the heater box by the one screw different.

I have a gap between the two so either they are different ori am missing a piece that connects the two....

    Any help would be appreciated....

I pretty sure the defrost duct is the same. It's not a tight fit between the duct and heater box. The heater duct sticks up inside the defrost duct an inch or so and since heat rises the heat stays in the duct. Only one plastic pin holds the two together.

The ducts are different. On AC equipped cars with the AC vent in the middle of the dash, the defroster duct makes contact on the top side of that center vent. On non AC cars the defroster duct was longer.

That would explain the gap. Looks like I am hunting for a non ac defroster duct. Thanks guys for the help !
