I have a 1975 Ford Maverick 250 w/ 19,000 original miles on it. I'm looking to upgrade the stock exhaust and put in a replacement Exhaust System, Specifically at this time, the muffler. I have a Trush Glasspak that I picked up at Autozone, and I was wondering and hoping it's not gonna make my car sound like a ricer. If it is, can someone give me a suggestion for a nice sounding muffler? Thanks!:drive:

Sorry.....it will sound like a ricer.

What will sound the best on a 250-6 is a matter of opinion. In my opinion, the quieter....the better.

A glasspack is your best bet for an I-6 (if you want something louder than stock), and while it won't sound as good as a V-8, I respectfully disagree with Craig that it will sound "Ricer".

The I-6 has a different tone than the 4-cylinders that most Ricers are running.

O.K.....maybe not "ricer".....but definitely loud and horrendously bad....in my opinion. :D

For once, I will disagree with Craig... :sorry:

I have used glasspacks on 4-cyl suzuki samurai, 4-cyl chevy luv, 6-cyl 280ZX, and on my maverick 302 v8, and I really like the way they sound.

In fact, I am fighting with myself right now to not go back to a glasspack and ditch my dual flowmaster super44 setup.

Glasspacks will give it a bit more guttural roar, but not a lot more volume. A little more volume, but not obnoxious volume. But a throaty little growl that I really like. Even on a 4 or 6 cylinder car.

It will definitely NOT sound like a ricer with a fart-can pipe on it. It will have a deeper tone, and only increase your loudness by a little bit.

While idling, I swear that the open pipe 170 in my 69-1/2 sounds like a 5.0 Explorer with flowmasters.

Anything but a glasspack....you want people to think you lost your muffler? A six with a glasspack, sounds like a lawn tractor.

    Wouldn't drone if I had glasspacks! :rofl2:

I did get rid of most of that noise, but it took a lot of work.

You already have the glasspack, put it on, but use a clamp and not a welder.

If you don't like it, take it off!

    Can't go wrong that way!

Only reason I used them on all those other cars was because they were CHEAP! Used to swap out rusty mufflers for a glasspack for $15. And I never wore a glasspack out.

No, that's what a six with a Flowmaster sounds like.

The length of the glasspack will determine how loud it is. The shorter it is, the louder it will be.

My daughter's V-6 Ranger runs a single glasspack. Typical V-6 glasspack sound but neither load nor too annoying at highway speeds. I would have changed it back to a stock muffler but she likes it.
