Orangeman customs was cleaning out the shop to change owners, I went in to have a look around and found a distributor in the box, it's a Powerfire by Professional Products, anyone know much about these? Saw them on Summit for around $174.99.

Professional Products are typically pretty good products. They have a good reputation.

Sounds like you made a decent score! :thumbs2:

Dave, what have you heard negative about them?

I know the magazines use their parts in their buildups, and I was recommended to buy their balancer.

I hope so, Orangeman does custom work on Classics and Hotrods, engine work included, he had alot of Chevy parts and a couple of big block Chevy engines, a few nice finished Hotrods for sale also including a sharp 1969 Camaro.

Nope, I have one of their fuel pumps, it's exactly like a Carter, you're just not paying for a name, like the Edlebrock I bought that was dead outta the box.

when they first came on the scene they had allot of quality control problems. eveything they had seemed to be a clone of a quality part already on the market. problems from intakes having porosity problems and casting flash that come loose in the runners to bad electronics in distributors. im not sure if they even make the intakes any more. as time as gone on, it seems to me that they have stopped making the problem parts and have put more effort into parts like the balancers that didnt come back on them.
the thing with the hei distributor is if its module or pick up go bad you can put quality replacement electronics into it.

Ok so I have a little problem, seems this dizzy is for a 302, my bad I guess I should have paid attention, what (other than the shaft size) is the difference in a 351w oil pump and a 302 oil pump? what I'm asking is can I just keep the dizzy and put in a 302 oil pump on the 351w so the shaft will fit?
If not I guess I will need to sell the dizzy.

I'm not positive.. but it's doubtful that the 351 oil pump would fit the 302.

and isn't the 351 disty's block mounting collar slightly larger than the 302's?

if all those parts easily interchanged.. many would be running the sturdier shafted 351 dizzy's, oil pumps and the larger shafts to beef things up on a budget. I'm pretty sure there's a reason that it's not popular to do that.

Yeah you are correct, now that you mention it, the 351w does have a larger collar on it, I guess I will sell it and hunt another,:tiphat: thanks for the reminder!
