Pull your dipstick and hold a lit cigarette lighter under it and light the oil on fire. If the oil burns clean, there is no water in the system, if it sputters and pops, it has water in it.

    Same for the tranny dipstick.

Start the engine and take the radiator cap off. Watch for a steady stream of bubbles running past after the thermostat opens up. If it has a steady stream of bubbles you have a crack in a cylinder or combustion chamber.

Is your oil or tranny fluid levels or water level going up or down anywhere?

    Carb ports

I do not think the mixing of oil/water/tranny fluid is still an issue but I like your test for it. I would still like someone to chime in on how it would be possible not to have vacuum at three of the ports on the carb...before I take it apart. Also if someone could help me identify which ports are ported/manifold vacuum, I would appreciate it. I have found a good diagram using all the parts I have, just need to make sure that I am hooking them up to the right ports on the carb....that is once I find vacuum.
