Can I wire the contacts on the brake blight switch directly to the brakelights? I would have to know what the 2 green wires going to the brakelight switch are. Maybe one from the battery and the other one to the brake lights?? Also would need to know which wire going into the socket at he bake controls the brake light filament. I am no electrician so I don't even know if this would work.

So this sounds like it is working correctly (so far). I am assuming BOTH sockets are installed in the appropriate housings and properly grounded. In this state, I am also assuming the brake lights do not work? If not, then you need to diagnose for inop brake lights only.

For troubleshooting purposes, I disconnected the black connector with the 2 green wires from the brake light switch, Ran a wire from the power side of the connector to the brake light switch and a wire from the brake light switch all the way back to the left brake light. Hit the brakes...nothing, so then I completly eliminated the black connector and ran a wire from the fuse box to the brake light switch, and a wire from the brake light switch to the left brake light....hit the brakes....I now have a left hand brake light....then I had to stop because it was wife time. Anyway, so until i go any farther...it looks like the black connector piece is bad on either both sides or the power side. Now I have to wait till 3:30 afternoon to dig into it again.

Sounds like a bad turn signal switch to me. A broken turn signal switch does weird goofy things like you describe. I have seen a broken turn signal switch make the front left and the right rear turn signals either not work all together...and even flash at the same time.

No, the brake switch wires go through the turn signal switch. The bright bulb filaments are used for brakes, turn signals, and flashers. The logic of the turn signal switch sorts it all out.

Well, I guess I'll pull the steering wheel this afternoon and see what I can see. If I have to replace the turn signal switch, so be it. I'll see what more troubleshooting I can do this afternoon.

Thanks again for all the replies and input. I love this forum:tiphat:

Nothing to really "see" with the switch. Seems they go bad internally or something.
