I just joined this forum today, although I've owned Mavericks since the late 70's. Nice to see such a great interest is out there for them. Besides Mavericks I own several old Econolines vans and pickups. My Maverick is a low milage 1970 2dr that was repainted gold by the original owner in 1980. I plan to remove the vinyl top and paint the car yellow/orange with a mocha custom interior. I have added a 5 lug rear axle, manual disc brakes, Magnum 500 wheels and Lincoln MKVII power bucket seats. I hope to eventually replace the 6 with a fuel injected V-8 and AOD transmission. Work has been slow on this car, I restored a 69 1/2 Maverick for my son, which interrupted work on mine. Fred Carello

hi fred, welcome to the board . i like the gold car (71gold), do you have some more pics. of it?...frank... p.s. terry, is the member with the "goofy" hat .
More Maverick photos Thanks for the welcome. The maroon Maverick is my son's. Here are some more photos of it. I installed Taurus SHO power seats reupholstered in leather and fabric. The rear seat was done to match. The custom door panels use Geo Prism armrests and Nissan pickup door releases. The headliner is molded in one peice and has a Taurus map/dome light. I installed a 250 6 cyl with a C-4, power disc brakes, power steering and 5 lug rear axle. The paint is 96' Ford Explorer Currant Red with Argent Silver hood stripe and bumpers done in DuPont Chroma-Base. It has a 73 Deluxe grille, front valence and a Grabber rear spoiler. All of the work on the car was done by my son and I. I'll post some photos of my 1970 as soon as I make some progress on it. I go to the Ford Carlisle show every year, usually with my Econoline pickup. I plan to attend again this year and hope to meet some of you there . Fred
nice mav seats look good in it.I was wanting to know did the rims come off an AMC or are they after market. from the 4door lover
Seat installation To make the SHO seats fit I modified the SHO power seat tracks. The outside track sits on the original seat riser area of the Maverick floor and only required drilling a new holes. The inside track had to have the ends trimmed and redrilled and studs welded to the floor with an angled bracket. They sit right where the floor turns up into the transmission tunnel. They were a tight fit and I had to trim the inside plastic hinge cover to clear the carpet. I started by installing the outside first since it sat flush on the floor. I then leveled the seat and made up the inside studs/brackets. The MK VII seats only required new holes and a spacer under the inside rear seat track bolt. Fred
Wheels Jason, The rims are 14X6 AMC's from a 1980 Spirit. They clear the disc brakes and don't rub when turning. I put a set on my 70 Mav with 245/60X14's with no clearence problems like I had with the Ford 14X7 Magnum 500's. Fred
