I have a 1970 inline 6 (170) three on the tree. My shift collar broke and the damn pot metal won't weld. So I bought a "universal" three speed floor shift. Turns out the piece of junk doesn't even fit. I'd like the keep my same trans cause there's nothing wrong with it but at this point I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?
Stefan, I have a 63 falcon with a 170 , the stock tranny was very noisy so I went to the self serve junkyard and pullaed a T-5 5 speed out of a 4 cyl. 89 mustang for 35 bucks bought a McCloud adapter and bolted it up, didn't cost much and is very smooth, way better than the 3 speed, but if you want the column shift call Green sales in Cincinatti google their # I think they have a new shift collar, but there are floor shifters that fit the falcon had one that worked. - Andy the "Bowsawkid"
They pop up on eBay from time to time. Not sure if this one fits. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1972-19...t=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
