Where is the fuse for the inst cluster lights? All lights work on my 75 Maverick , including the idiot lights. I have checked all of the fuses on both terminals in the fuse box, and they have current, with the lights on, and the engine running. Whatcha think? All bulbs are blown, or the voltage reducer is bad? Or, is there a separate fuse?

Most likely you need to replace your headlight switch. The potentiometer in it that controls the instrument cluster light brightness and dimness is contacted through 2 tiny little wires that are prone to thermal decay, as well as the potentiometer itself. Less than 10 dollars and 20 or 30 minutes should have you right as rain again.

However, you should check all the bulbs before you throw money at it. You should take the cluster out anyway to make it easier to get to the headlight switch.

The 1975 instrumnet cluster is made from a white plastic that turns very brittle with age. It is possible that the bulbs are losing their contact with the circuit board due to this brittleness. But since your other dash lights work, this is probably not the case. I only mention this because if you try to remove the dash cluster, you might find it will fall apart on you.

you might want to turn the dimmer on the light switch to see if it's turned to the off position...don't ask me how i know that can bite you...:D

Yep, been there. The dome lights as it should, but no dash lights.

I'd still check the fuse, as it can blow. It's a 10A if I remember right, and located in the fuse box. I remember it being shorter than all the other fuses.
