Ive been looking for either a rebuild kit or a new carb for my 1975 maverick and the only one ive found was listed under summit's website as ( HLY-3-1119) but wasnt in stock. Has anyone here found one, or has one that they would be willing to sell? Either the rebuild or a new carb. Its a single barrel carb, im sure thats common information though.
Ive got a good carb from a 250I6 I took out of my kids car Ill sell it for $50 plus shipping unless youre close enough to come by and pick it up in person. I couldnt see shipping costing more than $10 TOPS and that sounds like too much
IRC: All 6's had Carter carbs in 1975. I had to order three different rebuild kits before getting the right one. All numbers were sent when ordering, and this still happened. A professional rebuilder did the work, and it still runs rich. If I can't get this engine to run as it should, I am going back to the earlier 200ci engines that I know.
There are different kinds of carter carbs and different linkages for the carbs. My 1970, 200 six is using a holley one barrel carb, and the acceleration ,and torque is awsome. This holley is from an 302 ford air compressor, where 4 cylinders ,run and 4 cylinders pump air. Yes the air filter has to be custom made also for the holley. I am saying you can use what works.
Got one and ive got it installed. It was a motorcraft btw. Need some help on something though. Should the carb valve arm be loose?
Got my new carb about 10 months ago at rock auto. about $60 cheaper than i could find it anywhere else and hasn't given me any issues.
Not sure on the valve arm, i need a pic :16suspect ,or the model to tell more, but any carb linkage ,or rod-arm should not bind up from being to tight. Is it the accelerator pump arm? If so does it pump-squirt fuel when moved? We are talking about a one barrel carb right? The two barrel motorcrafts are so easy to work on . Hope this helps
Got it figured out. Next question: the inline "last chance" fuel filter that feeds fuel into the carb has been replaced, but it's not feeding fuel into the carb. The carb has been cleaned out, so why is it spitting fuel out there?
Spitting fuel out of fuel line, or squirter in carb? The gas tank has to have at least two gallons of gas for the fuel pump to pick it up-as in spitting! Rubber hoses on fuel line need to be good or new . The fuel pump has to be definately good. You can pour a small amount of fuel in the carb and crank the engine a few times, then the fuel should be spitting or you have got problems! :16suspect
Ok, the carb is %100 correctly rebuilt. The fuel pump is brand new and pumping. All fuel line was just replaced. Ill post later this afternoon if its feeding fuel or not.
Video #1: The explenation. Video #2: The initial run ( First time it started up since ive been workin on the carb. It ran for a little and cut out. ). Video #3: The second attempt ( This time it decided not to run up. This was after refilling the carb again. )
Sounded the initial start like it was idling high (to me) but i'm no expert! have you played with the idle/mixture screws at all?
