even though its gonna be 98 degrees tomorrow, im think im heading to island dragway (NJ) tomorrow, put the low gear trans in my car, and just mounted my goodyear 30x9 drag radials (slicks) yesterday. the low gear trans picked up the car .05 in 60ft 1.51 to a 1.46, but with 140 runs on my slicks it spun first round at Englishtown last week. you wouldn't believe how many people come up to you and tell how good the car sounds after making a pass shifting at 8500. Duane and after putting my upholstery on my grabber seats I had done by Fred, I don't have to put black towels on the drivers seat to hide the rips, witch is nice when people come up to look at the car
I'd love to go to island and watch you race. I can't make it this weekend though. Do you ever go to Atco?
Thanks John, but with the heat, id say your crazy for coming up anyway LOL, I do run atco occasionally, but living 5 minutes from raceway park, I go there the most, now that little league and travel softball is over, I will be running the Wednesday night 500.00 to win races at RP, and plan on going to maple grove to the Ford race, I will keep you posted next time I head to AR Duane
Hey Duane I hope to be able to attend the ford show at the grove. And yeah it's too damned hot around here!
had a good outing at ID yesterday, with the air starting out at 4300 ft, I ran an 10.83 with a 1.46 60ft, lost in the semi (4th round) was 047 to an 027, I went 10.813 on and 82 dial, he went 14.55 on an 53 dial. over shifted the car (9000) on the 1-2 shift, slowed it down .02, but was .007 to a .110 rt so I had plenty of room. light were .040 time shot, .027 .007 .021 and .047. actually had a 1.449 60ft one run. new goodyear radials were great. almost NO burnout the Low gear, and switching from a 7.10 moroso (28.5") front tire to a 27.5" MT has helped my lights to a much more natural spot on the tree. got a bunch of compliments of either the car, or how the 8500 rpm boss302 sounded. a couple people said the car bridges old school of pro stock and B s/m of the day with new age of bracket racing. one guy said he had been looking for a car like mine for years, and asked where I found it. I told him they were easy to buy in 1979 when I was 15 when I bought mine for 100 dollars LOL would love to find a set of 15x4 aluminum slot wheels and put a prostock hood scoop on my spare stock hood and run a couple nostalgia races Duane
I think I would have been better off going to the track because I'm still at a soccer tournament in the poconos and its incredibly hot!
my wife went yesterday to my daughters softball tournament sat, and we both went today, and we are going to Hagerstown MD for another next week, so I can relate Duane
