My buddy got a maverick but no engine so I was wantin to know What would be a cool newers 6 cylinder engines but don't what to have to cut any thing some thing that will fit and just build engine mounts for it and go
There aren't any newer 6 cylinder engines that will fit without modifying the car, because all newer ford V6's use rear sump oil pans.
I really want to try putting in a jeep 4.0 with an ax15 5spd if I ever get another mav, but I don't know if anyone makes a front sump for 4.0/4.2 jeep though.
He wants it to be efi so joe I'm looking in to the 250 for me and the engine dose not have to be ford I was thinking a 240sx 4 cylinder engine or a 6
240sx would either be the KA24DE (more common) or the SR20DE. Both great engines, and front sump. Would be an interesting swap, hard to say if the intake on either engine will clear the shock tower.
Get a 240 frd trk mtr which is not as tall as a 300 and will fit under your hood, and they are very reliable.
The 240 I6 has a shorter blk than the 300 I6 and is a better mtr than a 200 or a 250 because the intake and exhaust mnflds are removable. It`s hard to find a good cyl. hd for a 200 or a 250 because they crack, usually in the center of the hd.Also,a 240 has adjustable rocker arms,if you don`t want to put a v8 in the car this would be the way to go.Rig up an EFI set up w/ an AOD trans. and you would have an extremly reliable car that you could work on in the back yard that would get probably about 30mpg.
