I finally have a beautiful Comet small front bumper and stone guard. However, I do not have any idea how the two are attached since I purchased them separately. Is the stone guard attached to the grille at all or just to the bumper? Pictures would really help me out.

    Thanks

Attached to neither. The stone guard attaches to the bottom of the front fenders.

Thanks for the diagram, but it does not show the stone guard in the picture and it is for 73-77 cars. I am trying to get a 72 stone guard and front bumper in place on my 73 Comet.

Bolts into the bottom of the fender notches on mine. Does a 73 have the notches??

I think I understand now. On a small bumper stone guard the only attachment point to the car is the fender notch. A 73 does not have fender notches so I will have to notch the fender to give the stone guard an attachment point.

I wonder how those guys notching the stone guard instead of the fender get it to bolt up. :hmmm:

The stone guard bolts up under the headlites, while the valence bolts to the bottom of the "sides" of the fenders.

It also attached in the center to the hood latch striker brace. Personally I'd notch the fenders. It's not hard.
