I installed a Crane cams hi-6 ignition box in my maverick. The maverick has a 1994 302 roller in it , msd blaster ss coil, and a msd cap. Ite car starts and runs great. ......... Exactly the same as it did with my ford coil in it this morning! Did this hi-6 and coil change do anything? It was all free so it isn't like I have a huge need for the car to improve, but it got me wondering. Good stuff, or just shiny stuff?
It's the intensity of the spark that would have changed, depending on your engine, you might feel it, you might not....
regardless of what it is supposed to do if you replace an old part with a new part its a good thing. cant hurt thats for sure. sounds like it might improve the gas mileage
When I put the MSD 6A on my GTO is sure made a difference. The idle was much more crisp and I was finally able to run down a friend in his GMC Cyclone before the end of the 1/4.
If the plug gap is set to specs for points(.035), then opening them up to .045-.050 will allow you to take advantage of the higher voltage to fire the plugs... This usually means faster starts and a better running engine overall especially in the upper RPM range or when cold...
