Ok, trying to start the rewiring of my car using the '76 harness and I'm asking myself some questions:

    • How the heck do I clean all these grungy wires / connectors / and looms?
I have new wire loom (that split loom black plastic-y stuff) but the connectors and open runs of wire all have grease, grime, undercoat and dirt on them; what is the best way to clean them all?

    • I also have sections of cloth covered wire that's all aged looking, any ideas on cleaning that?

    • And bigger question, I'm rewiring using my factory wiring harness but with a carb'd 5.0 motor with an older distributor that has a Pertronix unit in it, and a 1 wire alt. Trying to figure out what I will need and what I won't as far as factory wires and connectors is stumping me. Is there any recommended tech resource on how to rewire with just what you need and not all the stuff you won't? What do I do with all the Duraspark wires and connectors? What about all the regulator related wires?

    1- GoJo Hand Cleaner
    2- Mustang Vendor sells it
3- Once you remove the regulator harness from the old alternator you then removed the extra wiring.

you get rid of everything under the hood and hide it in the frame rail all the way back to the trunk then no one will see it all dirty and grungy

Wiring a car is super easy. They had to make it easy for the assembly line workers to get it done correctly....and fast. All the connectors are different from each other and can ONLY plu into certain things. You will figure it out.
