I need to switch out the pick up tube on my sons motor so I can put the front sump oil pan on it, then we are ready to set the motor in the car. It is an 89 302 block but has the fox body mustang pan on it currently.
My question is what pick up do I order to be able to do this. I have looked on Summit and with the info they list with the pick ups I can not determine which one should I order? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Thanks for the response 289, but I think the link you sent is for the 250 six cylinder motor, unless I read it wrong. Mine is an 89 302 motor.

Would the pick up be the same for a 89 V/8 302 as the 73 V/8 302 motor?

my bad sorry bout that, pick up should be the same if its the same pan. for a pick up i would do this- http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mil-18620/overview/make/ford
its for the front oil sump pan. and for ordering from summit, if your just looking for a stock replacement part order the cheapest ones. the more expensive are usually for aftermarket parts that wont probably fit with stock components.

I got a pickup for my front sump pan from autozone, and they actually had it in stock. Just asked for 1 for a 73 mav.

oreillys is a great store. i love them, if you just need a stock replacement part they will probably have it in stock, if not they can ship that part in the same day if you go in the morning. if your just needing a pickup go to a auto parts store first. much better then summit. its nice being able to check out the part with your eyes and hands before buying it.
