I’m about to start relocating my battery to the trunk. I’m considering relocating the spare tire to the left side and mounting the battery on the right side using the original battery holder. I have not figured out how I’m going to route the battery cables. I would like to see what others have done. If any of you have the time, would you mind posting or sending me some pictures of what you have done? Also, what parts did you use? Thanks, Micah Micahkev –at- pacbell.net
we ran mine through the body of the car itself we drilled a hole in front of the rocker panel from the inner fender well and pulled the cable through with a wire hanger. the positive cable we just moved the starter cylinoid to the trunk as well.
Mounted marine box where spare normally resides, ran cable from trunk over wheelhousing to rocker channel, drilled hole through the base of the pillar (in behind where the speaker holes are) to behind the plastic inner fender, and through the apron to the solenoid. Made sure there was rubber grommets between the cable and the hole edges and no sharp edges near the cable in the sills or fender well, and used welding cable.
mounted mine on driver side, ran cable through cutoff switch mounted on tailpanal and up the pass. side to power block on frame rail at starter.
I am considering moving mine back to the front. It is currently mounted on a custom bracket over the front part of the gas tank. The bracket is designed to hold two batteries.
Iv seen this personally at his house and it looks really good. It's what made me decide to mount mine in the trunk
Thanks everyone for the input. I would have a much better idea of how you routed the wires if I could see them in person too. I wish I could. Any possibility that someone has some good photos of how they did it. Thanks, Micah
Got a picture, Frank? Once you turn your tail panel switch on, does everything "hot" feed from that block?
This weekend, I'm going to start work on the battery relocation. I would appreciate any photos. I'm particularly interested in those who ran their cables over the sill and through the front wheel well. Thanks, Micah
