hi guys, I come from Germany (munich) and need your help please. I really want to buy a Maverick. In Germany these cars are very rare, so I would like to import it from us. This is very complicated and expensive. It is also a big risk for me to buy the car based on images and text. I have a favor to ask you. Maybe someone lives near Elkin, North Carolina and would look for me this car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-Ford-M...RESERVE-need-gone-for-Christmas-/200984477066 Important is how the underbody looks (rust), and whether the car has dents and is accident free... and so on.... Thank you for all the support Tom
from Norheast Pennsylvania USA You may want to look up a member here from Cologne who goes by the screen name of Tody. Thomas is very experienced in getting parts to Germany from the United States and I'm sure could help you out with your issues
It is still early here in the US so maybe sometime today a member from North Carolina might be able to help you out and look at the car for you - Good Luck with your quest
Found this new thread about the car you are interested in http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=96132
tom, i'd stay away from that particular ebay car. too many things that need to be sorted out... the ebay car will definitely needs a hood, needs shock tower braces and a few other things. as i mentioned already, i'd look for something straight and complete, even with dents and dings or old factory paint in poor condition - not something quickly painted over so you won't notice the real defects. what about something like this, i have everything for the small bumper swap already over here in germany. much cheaper, too: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=95704 you surely could get members on here post a little more about their cars than on ebay, maybe on something like this: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=95741 generally speaking, i'd prefer the for sale section here over ebay on any day. a v8 floor shift car in good condition is not easy to find, especially a grabber. but if you want something, you find it on here. i can arrange shipping for you from houston, tx or from pooler, ga. so i'd start looking in these states. you might want to consider contacting fellow member rwbrooks50 on here. he's located in tx and could have a lead on a solid car for you.
thank you. the question is, is the car just look messy or is it scrap. it is indeed contain a lot of expensive technology that I get very difficult in germany ford racing e303 cam automatic b&m street and strip transmission w/ B&m starshifter edelbrock intake for a single carb ford 9" detroit locker rear end hedman headers glasspack mufflers ... when the bodywork and underbody are ok I would buy a new hood. mount the single carb. and I would restore the interior.
Hey Tom, If one looks past the obvious then it is not hard to see the attraction of the specific Maverick that started this thread. A couple of things stand out to me: # 1 - it has evidently been for sale multiple times and for a long time which means that no one feels it is worth what he is asking. # 2 - for the asking price the car should be nearly completely "new" inside and out but it looks more like a fancy repaint and a lot of engine bling. If it is a solid car then the bling can be corrected cheaply and easily. After assessing it real value and worthiness the big question will be importation and leagality. Tody would be a great friend to have for that knowledge. I am sorry that I cannot help in that the car is about 2,500 miles from me. All the best.
hi MST im a swiss guy living in mexico and currently restorating a maverick im planning to take to switzerland. i double the comment from tody as for me this car does not look suitable for germany. id propose to you to search a good solid rustfree car which is mostly original to start with. if it is original and in good shape, it will most likely be street legal in germany and with less problems to get it on the road. and from there you can make the car the way you like it, as tody made it with his (bumper swap, engine upgrade, suspension and whatever you might to do) the big plus is that like this you know exactly what you have and how its done. its really difficult to buy a car from fotos, and i just want to prevent you to make a similar error as i did. i bought a car which looked nice and was painted fresh, but alot of rust hidden inside. so better you look for cars from the south of the US like texas or florida and let you guide from the really experienced and friendly guys of the forum here. they can help you stay out of trouble and pay too much money for something that isnt worth it and youll pay alot more to get it in a shape that it suits what you were looking for at the beginning. just what i think... and when you have your Maverick and im back in switzerland with mine we have to organize a mini meet as i live at the bodensee really close to you.
and to get your point of the expensive parts covered that the car has: do you really want to have a dragsterlike car with a locker do drive mountain roads and autobahn in germany?? i dont think so...!! i think there are better parts which suit our countries better. (for example: i put a 5 gear manual in it with a LSD in the back)
And it's not even April 1st! There are plenty of good, rust free examples of these cars if you look hard enough.
I still have mine for sale, and it is solid. If you are interested. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=93859
