    I have a 66 green dot C4. (289 2V will be a 4V soon).
I know what I can do with the green dot is limited.
I read where I should get a 67-69 valve body and put a shift kit in it.

Where do I get the valve body and which shift kit should I use?

I can't advise you on the valve body but I do have a B&M shift kit for that trans. I've been asking $10 plus the ride. I'm at work now, in the morning I can get you the part number and a pic if you want.

    B&M shift kit vs Transgo

How does the B&M shift kit compare to the Transgo kit?
The price sure is great ;-)
Please do list the part number later today.
If it works for the old green dot valve body and the 67 valve body
    that would be great.
I have another C4 that needs a rebuild, I don't know the year yet.
I can rebuild that to later put in the car but for now, the original 66 trans in the car is staying in the car. I just want to beef up the valve body to make the trans last a bit longer. I can do that without pulling the trans out...

If you're expecting to fix the slipping 2nd shift with a kit, I'm guessing you'll be disappointed...

Most often slipping 2nd is the intermediate servo piston has a problem with it's seal(replaceable without removing trans), or the band is worn... If it were a newer unit I'd expect the band to be cracked but if it has a orig cast band, those were extremely durable... You can try adjusting the band but if this happened suddenly, I'm betting on the servo...

    the '70-up C4 have a 26 spline input shaft while '69 & earlier have a 24 spline...

Can you point me to a youtube or other video that shows how to replace the intermediate servo? I especially like the part about doing in without pulling the trans :)
Is there a specific brand or part number for the servo I should get as opposed to other brands? What I mean is can I just go get whatever brand the local auto parts store has or do I have to order a specific brand?

Would the servo from a 1972 C4 be the same?

I looked but other than a Performance Automatic video on how to install one of their servos didn't see anything, still it's informative enough to "get the idea"... It does require removal of the valve body and loosen band, which isn't mentioned...

You may want to check the adjustment before doing anything else as it's easy to do... It's outlined in the shop manual or prob something on youtube...

As far as parts you'll probably have to get them from a transmission supplier, I doubt you'll be able to buy anything other than filter & pan gasket from Advance, O'Rileys, etc...

    Shift kits and servos

1967 shift kit will not fit a 1966.

The servo can be replaced without fear of anything falling out of place.

Tighten the band adjuster located on the left side of the transmission. This will hold the band struts in position while removing the servo.

Now remove the 4 bolts holding the servo in. Pull the servo out, clean and replace the "O" rings and gasket. Also clean the servo bore.

Reinstall the servo and adjust the band. The notch on the pin must be parallel with the case for the strut to fit into.

If the band is worn out a "snap band" can be installed without transmission removal but does require removing the valve body.
