I knew they were getting old, starting hearing the tale tail thump of the chunks hitting the undercarriage.

I had just left for work, turned it around and parked it at the house. Time to go tire shopping, I was sort of hoping to put it off but that's how it goes....

You lucked out! (y) When mine did that, the whole tread came off and tore the fender and part of the rocker area up! + mine went flat so It had to be changed to get home.

Yep lucky, mine did it a 60 mph, put a large dent in the top of my fender, filled my eyes with rubber and dirt/pavement, tore the side marker light to hell and wrapped around the spindle and lodged there, luckily the tire stayed inflated.

I'm feeling pretty lucky! Hearing your stories, wow! I think I'll have to take a second look for damage. There were three good sized thumps, so..... we'll see.

we also got lucky with curb hoppers car after going out racing and just plain terrorizing his car.
we were told someone saw sparks under the car from the tire when we took off racing. sure enough we got back from our 100+mph run and the cords were hanging out. (amazing how much rubber you can shed off a tire in one night :D:chirp:)
so we went home on the tires since they were aired up and made it home safely. forgot about the tire over night. (we figured tomorrow we would find a new one. well went to go somewhere the next day and no sooner than I started to step on the gas to pickup a little speed POW! tread tore apart and stated flapping around then the right rear tire went flat

Got some new rubber! The blue they use to seal the "white" stripe is tuff stuff. A few more washes and we'll see!

Thanks Dave! She's a daily driver, 15-20 footer LOL. Got few dings here and there, rear bumper needs some straightening. After the engine build gets done, I’ll get after a few more things.
