I have this extra Maverick gas cap with the steer horns and I would like to trade somebody for the one that reads "Maverick" on it. I know I could sell it and buy the other one on ebay, but I thought it would be easier to see if somebody wants to trade first. Would like one that's at least in as good of shape as mine. Looks nice with only a couple small dimples. Thanks!

If you have a 72' car...which style do you mean? There are 3 of them....
...and if you count the sticker/stamped metal variations...maybe 4.

The early or later styles may not fit your type of gas filler neck...you probably have the early style

    Here's one type:

And the later LDO/Deluxe style may not fit correctly, unless you change to a later style filler neck:

    And the third type:

I'm looking for one like the first one that you pictured. I would take either if anybody is willing to trade. It's for my collection, not my car so it doesn't matter which years it fits.

I have never seen this type. I would say that was just a prototype that never made it to production.

I would agree with you Craig. I have never seen the 3rd Type in person either, and the photo did come from a Ford promo photo, so it's doubtful that Gas Cap is in circulation....

....but it's possible it exists, and was put on a car...and I'm sure it would fit.

Not to go too far off topic, but here is a St. Thomas Assembly Plant related, Ford Archive Promo Photo, that shows the original Maverick "steerhead" emblem, with the steer's horn tips NOT making it to the OUTER RING...and the "R" does not touch the "I" in "Maverick".

I have never seen one of these emblems either:

    And back on topic:

Red1972Grabber is still looking to Trade for one of these type of Gas Caps:
