Yeah, I know Seth...the Boss car has to come soon. I gotta make some room for it. The value of them is getting very high right now so I really want to take my time and do it right. It's a highly documented car and I even work for the dealership that originally sold it new so it'll be neat to get it finished one day. I have one more project I want to get finished with before I get into the Boss and that's my original 71 Grabber, the grabber green car. I need to go through it like I just did this blue one. It's been a little neglected the last 10-11 years and I'm ashamed of myself for it. Anyway, it won't be quite as costly to restore than the Boss 302 and I really want to get it back in shape.
Car looks awesome! How did you make that rear panel that goes around the tail lights? Did you move the leaf springs in to fit those monster tires on there?
Thanks Mavman, the leaf springs are in their original position. The tires are 275 60R15's . There are a few people here on the board running the same size tire. I'm running a 9" posi that was built for this car and it's the same width as the original rear also. It's extremely tight and I did have to roll the lip in on the qtr panel but it's not noticeable. I already answered your pm about the tail light panel. Merry Christmas to ya.
Ray, great looking car:bananaman :bananaman .Please tell me about those cool louvers ,are they one of a kind or what? Car is magazine cover car for sure.
Thanks Dave, I lucked up and got the louvers on eBay about 8 months ago. They aren't one of a kind but are very rare. I've seen pictures of them before but this is the first set I have ever actually seen in person and I've had Mavericks for 30 years. They were made by a company called Sport Shades Inc. which have been out of business quite some time. I can remember seeing these listed in J.C. Whitney back about 20-25 years ago and always wanted to get a set but never did.
3 months?!?!?!?!? Why dont you and jean doll go into the mav resto business together?? You'd be cranking them out left and right
Don't give me any ideas. . Theres' been many a time my husband and I have thought about bailing out of PA, but somehow I don't see that happening any time soon.
Now Jean, you know that your Mavericks would be much happier down here where it's nice and warm so you could drive them every day. Of course if you decided you don't want to move I'd be happy to keep your Stallion warmed up for ya! I love that car.
