I Have Done Electronic Ignition Conversions On Older Ford Trucks Before With Using The Stock Duraspark Parts From Early 80's Trucks And Had No Problems. Now I Have Done It On The Maverick , 302 V-8 And Having Problems . Cranks And Runs Perfect Like Timing Is Set Dead On , And It Is With Tdc. Now When I Get On It Hard From Take Off , It Has A Bad Sputter Or Choking Sound . Like It Is Out Of Fire Or Gas. I Had The Stock Points Type Ignition On It And Was Doing Great Running And Getting 18 Miles To The Gallon , But Have Been Told That Electronic Ignition Is Better . I Can Drive Normal And It Does Fine Unles I Get It Above 3200 Rpm And Again It Is Sputtering And Pinging. The Advance Is Hooked Up Same As Before With Points Dizzy , So I Am Lost , Never Had This Trouble With This Upgrade Before. New Parts Bought For Upgrade Consits Of 1982 Ford Truck 302 Electronic Distributop , Rotor Button , Cap And Spacer, And New Module Box.

So Anybody That Is Still Reading My Book Here , Have Any Ideas ???

    Please , Thank You

    Jeff:(

How did you hook up the red and white wires? I tie them both together and hook to a switched 12v source. Dont use the 12volt line that originally went to the coil.

Try reversing the wires at the coil. It'll run with them backwards, but will do exactly as you say its doing. Learned that the hard way:coco:

My buddy had a similar problem and found that the dizzy springs needed changing. (???) - er, if it has springs.

Ok I Didnt Use The Original Hot Wire On Coil To Supply The Power To The Box Cause I Noticed It Had No Power When You Turn The Key Into Crasnk Mode .
So You Hook Up The Green Wire From The Module Box To The - Side Of The Coil And The + Side Of The Coil Goes To Battery Hot ? I Cant Remember, That Is How I Have It Now. It Is Frustrating When You Start Forgetting Stuff Youve Done Before , And Im Still Young.

Did you get all the components out of the same car? If so, was the module a blue connector or green? Did the aftermarket module have the same color connector?

Well I Am Using The Same Module That I Got Out Of The 82 Ford Truck With The Coil And Wiring Harness. And It Has The Blue Around The Wires. And I Forgot To Mention That Someone Put A 351 W Cam In This Motor Before I Got It , But The Points Distributor I Took Out Was For A 302 And Ran Fine And Had The Same Kind / Size Gear On It That The New One Does.
