I've been looking at pics on here of Mavericks with the Bobcat tail lights, and you guys who have your bezels blacked out, that looks so cool. Really looks better than the chrome. Clean & less gaudy. I want to black mine out now.
I agree completely with blacked out treatments. You can certianly get the paint to stick well enough.. but by the time you do all that prep and spend decent cash on self etching primers and whatnot.. you could just have them blasted and baked like Frank said above. Don't forget to take some before and afters for us.
I did a set of standard frames with black epoxy appliance paint for a friend (well actually a Pinto but the same) and they've held up nicely.
Just build your Mav the way YOU want, you drive it, you own it, its yours to do what ever you want. Building it to look like someone else's is not custom. Use YOUR imagination and you'll be proud of what you created.
