I recently bought front disc spindles for my 72 Comet off another member on here and I'm looking for a list of the parts I'll need to finish and what opinions in brands or anything anyone else has used in the past. I'm also looking to add power brakes to my Comet as well so I'm open to opinions for this as well. Also if there are parts I would need that are difficult to find and anyone is selling please inform me! Thanks!
Yes, but fortunately i have a family member who works for a dealership so i cant get new parts at wholesale prices
I have actually met with the owner of this in person many times and bought a few things from him. I wont go back because i paid for my part and never got it, instead i was told he was working on it and try back in a few weeks.
Let me sell you something. I must say, doesn't sound like Joe, I would try to give him a call and/or ask for a refund.
I bought 5 or 6 things from him previously, he was painting something for me and i could never get a real response from him
you will need caliper, rotors, wheel bearings, wheel bearing seals, spindle nuts and washers. spindle nut lock and cotter pin. brake hoses. there is a company that makes a power brake booster conversion for mavericks. i dont remember the name of the company but their are several threads that talk about it. try some searches and i bet you will find it.
If all you have are the spindles....you will have a problem getting the caliper brackets. Very hard to find. Hopefully you have those. This place also sells parts: www.DiscBrakeSwap.com My opinion: You won't need power brakes. I have it on two of my cars. It was pretty much a waste of time to do it to my 1972. Disc brakes are a huge improvement. Adding power to the disc brakes is not that noticeable.
that is the part he needs to find first. we had a set with them missing and no one would sell just the brackets, had to buy a whole new setup...
Power booster If interested I have a correct power booster, master cylinder and under hood support brackets.
I actually have the caliper brackets, I found a pair from Nevada. I'm looking to see what kinds of rotors and calipers people have used. What have you guys found to work and last the best? As far as power brakes i think i might hold off and see how the car stops after switching to disc brakes, why waste money?
Do you know what car the spindles came from? .... you want to be sure to get matching tie rod ends for that donor vehicle.
