I have a piece of wood with a variety of holes drilled in it that I use for this purpose. Different size holes for different size bolts.
Thats what I used in a cabinet shop years ago. I didnt feel like drilling holes, so I did this on the fly. It worked well.
Done many times. I usually just push them through though. What I really like is when I find a piece of starafoam.. I remember thinking I was a genius when I first did it without someone showing it to me lol..
Here are my door/trunk hinge bolts in the paint booth. The other side of the board has smaller size holes.
I am suprised this trick was not posted here.. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=52814&highlight=cheap+tools
Looks great , Can't wait to see you finish it. Just think, 4 years ago my ex made me junk a car after rebuilding a engine because the tranny went out. I guess that's why she is my ex now.
Nice Job, Don! All that attention to detail will pay off once you get the engine assembled!! Dave "Boy-rat" is too funny!
Got home early today and had time to work in the Man Cave for a while. I put a new shaft in the oil pump, filled the crankcase with a few quarts of oil and ran the pump enough to see oil moving. Then I pulled the distributor and fuel pump off the old 200 and cleaned them up. I installed the distributor, should have time to get the fuel pump in tomorrow. I read a thread several months ago about whether a dizzy from a 200 would work on a 250. I checked part numbers and they were the same. Mine dropped right in. Here are couple pics from today.
Progress is progress.. Someday I will make some.. someday.. I don't remember if you mentioned what, if anything, your doing to the head..
